Introducing FDM 3D Flight Replay with Glass PFD
Flight Data Monitoring just got a major upgrade. Prometheus One now includes a full 3D flight replay engine with a Glass PFD cockpit overlay, approach analysis HUD, multi-angle cameras and automatic exceedance detection — all in the browser, no additional software required.
Why FDM Matters
Flight Data Monitoring is a cornerstone of a proactive Safety Management System. By recording and analysing QAR/DAR data, operators can detect trends and exceedances before they become incidents — identifying hard landings, excessive bank angles, unstabilised approaches and UPRT events across the fleet.
Until now, FDM analysis typically required dedicated ground station software and a specialist analyst. Prometheus One brings it into the platform operators already use for SMS, crew and operations.
3D Replay Features
- True-scale 3D environment: The aircraft model renders at accurate scale against terrain, with runway thresholds anchored to real liftoff and touchdown positions. The aircraft rolls the full runway length on takeoff and landing.
- Glass PFD overlay: A fully functional primary flight display — attitude indicator, altitude tape, airspeed, vertical speed, heading — rendered in sync with the replay data. Pitch polarity corrected to match real PFD behaviour.
- Four camera modes: Switch between tail chase, profile (side), tower (ground-referenced) and cockpit views during replay.
- Approach analysis HUD: Final Approach mode activates a dedicated overlay showing glidepath deviation, touchdown zone markers and approach path history — ideal for reviewing ILS precision or VNAV approaches.
- Event detection: The system evaluates every parameter against aircraft-specific limits (configurable in FDM Programme Settings). Exceedances are flagged with coloured event cards and a timeline scrubber.
- Event library: Pre-built event definitions cover hard landing, excessive pitch, excessive bank, UPRT/upset recovery, non-normal operation phases and more.
FDM Roles
Two new system roles — FDM Analyst and FDM Manager — provide granular access control. Analysts can review flights and flag events; Managers configure event limits and approve programme settings. Neither role requires admin access to the rest of the platform.
Availability
The FDM module is available to all Prometheus One operators. QAR/DAR data import formats and integration with aircraft-specific parameter mappings can be configured via Admin → FDM Programme Settings.
